Thread rolling
Thread rolling
Nowadays, thread rolling is the most common procedure to produce external thread. By using the cold roll forming method, a corresponding profile is rolled onto a screw blank. This method is fast, cost-effective and guarantees a constant high quality.

The advantages of thread rolling are:
- Considerable increase in strength by cold processing
- No disconnected fiber flow compared to thread cutting
- Reduced notch sensitivity
- High accuracy grade
- Press polished flank
- Higher abrasion resistance
- Considerable material-saving
- Higher corrosion resistance
- Efficient production
This method can be used for almost every thread form. Materials with an elongation beginning from appr. 6% and a tensile strength of maximum 1200N/mm can be processed. However, it has to be mentioned, the lower the breaking elongation, the higher the tools wear.
